The Department of Safety and Risk Management currently offers the courses listed below:

Minors on Campus Annual Training

Course Length:  1.5 hours

Fee:  No Fee

(Who should attend?  MANDATORY ANNUAL TRAINING for Program Directors/Program Coordinators)

This annual training is for GSU Faculty, Staff and Volunteers of Programs Serving Non-Student Minors Policy (“Policy”) sets forth certain operational standards for the activities described herein, in compliance with the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia Policy 12.9 (“Programs Serving Minors”).

 

Driver Awareness

Course Length: 1 hour

Fee: No fee

(Who Should Attend: Employees who drive GSU owned vehicles should attend. Mandatory for some Departments)

This course outlines the policies and procedures for the use of State vehicles at GSU. During this presentation we will teach the participants how to use fuel cards, the importance of being aware while driving, and how to use and operate state vehicles.

 

Auto Liability

Course Length: 1 hour

Fee: No fee

(Who Should Attend: GSU staff, faculty, grad assistants and volunteers who drive their personal vehicles for GSU business)

This course describes the guidelines for GSU staff, faculty, grad assistants and volunteers that drive their personal vehicles for GSU business. This also includes information for people who rent vehicles for GSU business. Within this course we will discuss the different types of coverage one could receive. Also, this course will go into detail on what to do to comply with DOAS insurance requirements.

 

Defensive Driving – 8 Hour Course

Course Length: 8 hour

Fee: No fee

(Who Should Attend: GSU staff, faculty, grad assistants and spouses/children of – a voluntary program)

This course is recommended for employees who drive GSU owned vehicles or their personal vehicles for GSU business. The DDC8 Course is conducted in (2) 4-hour sessions on (2) consecutive days. Attendance and punctuality required both days to receive a certificate. May receive insurance discounts depending on your auto insurance company.

Defensive Driving - 8 Hour Course Registration

 

Personal Transportation Vehicle (PTVs)

Course Length: 1 hour

Fee: No fee

(Who Should Attend: GSU staff, faculty, grad assistants, volunteers who are authorized to drive a PTV i.e. golf cart, GEM car, as part of their job. MANDATORY TRAINING)

This course is required for golf cart and gem car operators. The presentation and video explains how to safely operate and use golf carts. This course emphasizes safety and proper procedures when operating a PTV. A Personal Transportation Vehicle Safety Certificate is issued for attending.
