The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) provides a safe and secure environment by preparing the university to manage and recover from any type of emergency or disaster.

OEM provides specialized expertise in emergency program development by creating, revising and maintaining university-wide policy and plans related to emergency operations, essential communications, fire safety and strategic security initiatives.

Provides central location university, local government and agency officials to convene during disaster situations to make decisions, set priorities and coordinate resources for response and recovery.

Planning

Designs collegiate and departmental emergency action plans. The critical goals of each plan are:

  • To synchronize efforts.
  • To prevent fatalities and injuries.
  • To reduce damage to buildings, documentation, stock, and equipment.
  • Accelerate the resumption of normal operations.

Training Services

Our Training Program encompasses mandatory training events for members of the University Emergency Response Organization and optional events for all university students, faculty and staff. We offer numerous courses/classes throughout the year and are available to teach specialized classes or facilitate exercises for groups.

Emergency Notifications

The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) utilizes several communication mediums to relay information to faculty, staff, students, and the general public. Notifications may go out through multiple modes of Mass Notification.
